What's new
On June 26, 2009, Minister Moore announced a renewal of funding for the arts. He also noted that the Arts Presentation Canada Program will now be called the Canada Arts Presentation Fund and that its funding will be kept at the current level for fiscal years 2010-2011 to 2014-2015. The program's mandate and objectives remain the same.
CAPF Objective
The objective of the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF) is to give Canadians access to a variety of professional artistic experiences in their communities. The CAPF recognizes that arts presenters are key partners in achieving this objective by providing financial assistance to organizations that professionally present arts festivals or performing arts series, as well as their support organizations.
CAPF Expected results
- Arts presenters offer a variety of professional artistic experiences to Canadians;
- Canadians in all regions of the country engage and participate in a variety of professional artistic experiences;
- Arts presenters and presenter support organizations undertake professional development opportunities to strengthen the practices of the CAPF presenting community;
- Arts presenters undertake their activities within a healthy Canadian presenting environment.
Ultimately, the long-term results of the CAPF will allow Canadians to experience and value professional artistic experiences.
Who can apply?
Canadian, non-profit organizations incorporated under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act (or under corresponding provincial or territorial legislation) that present, in a professional manner, artistic experiences originating from more than one province or territory; or with a core focus on strengthening arts presentation in Canada. Provincial, territorial or municipal institutions (including educational institutions that organize presentation activities for the public), as well as similar institutions or organizations of Status or Non-Status Indians, Inuit and Métis are also eligible.
CAPF Components / Guidelines and Application Forms
The Canada Arts Presentation Fund delivers its funding through two components:
- Programming Component – to support existing:
- Development Component – to support the emergence of arts presenters and presenter support organizations for under- served communities or artistic practices. (Please contact your regional office of the Department of Canadian Heritage for further details on the Development Component application).
Your organization cannot apply to both components in the same year for your programming activities.
Deadlines
For Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters:
There are two application deadlines for Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF): April 30 and September 30.
Applicants with activities starting between April 1, 2011 and June 30, 2011 must apply by the April 30, 2010 deadline.
All other applicants must contact their Regional Office to determine which deadline is most appropriate for their organization.
For Presenter Support Organizations:
There is one deadline for Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF): April 30, 2010.

Summary of CAPF activities
Canada Arts Presentation Fund annually supports approximately 600 professional arts festivals and performing arts series as well as other activities related to art presentation in more than 224 cities or communities across Canada.
