Lots of ideas

There are countless ways to celebrate Canada from parades to concerts, award ceremonies to fireworks. Whether your event is indoors or outdoors, formal or not, be creative, have fun and best of all Celebrate Canada.

Block Party: Gather your neighbours and organize a street party to celebrate National Aboriginal Day, Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Canadian Multiculturalism Day or Canada Day.

Sporting Events: Organize a golf tournament and give gifts such as flags, t-shirts, golf towels or CDs by Canadian, Francophone or Aboriginal artists.

Coordinate a Celebrate Canada Rally. Teams can tour the community hunting for clues.

Seniors Gathering: Invite seniors from your community to share their stories with children. It is a great opportunity for youth to learn about their community's history and the transformation Canada has seen throughout the years.

"Green" Projects: Gather friends, family and neighbours alike for a community clean-up. Organize a debris or trash pick-up at a local beach or park, touch-up schoolyards or playgrounds or beautify your community by planting flowers.

Garden Party: Plan a "Garden Party Extravaganza" complete with a flag raising and an invitation to taste a Canada Day shortcake.

Bonfire Party: Organize a traditional Saint-Jean-Baptiste celebration complete with "Chansonniers et feu de joie".

Aboriginal Guest Speakers: Invite a First Nation Elder or chief to share their culture and language. It is an opportunity to learn about First Nation history and traditions.
