Part II Application process

7. Deadline

Applicants must contact the CMF to discuss their project idea prior to submitting an application (see Part I – 4.2.1).

If a project synopsis reviewed by the Program has been deemed eligible, applicants are required to submit their complete application at least four (4) months prior to the start date of the project. Applicants who do not respect this time frame could be deemed ineligible by the CMF. Any costs incurred for the project before the application is received by the Program are ineligible and will not be reimbursed.

The number of files to assess and the degree of complexity of the projects submitted will impact on the time required to process each application.

The approval of funding by the CMF in one year does not automatically confer approval of funding in future years. Every year, all applications received are assessed and projects are recommended based on the project's merits. No applicant should assume approval until final approval is granted by the Minister or the Minister's representatives.

8. Application Instructions

The following instructions will help you prepare your application and ensure that it is complete.

A) Before completing your application and preparing the required documents
Read the SID Applicant's Guide carefully, including the definitions (see Part III – Definitions) to ensure that you meet the Program objectives eligibility criteria and funding conditions (see Part I). Submit a project synopsis (see 4.2) which briefly describes your project idea.

B) As you proceed with your application
If a project synopsis reviewed by the Program has been deemed eligible, submit a complete application including all required supporting documents (see Part II, section 9).

C) Before sending your application to the CMF
Verify that the project proposal and forms (Appendices A, B and C) are fully completed, signed and dated wherever required, and that totals and all other information are accurate.

Ensure that the application bears the applicant's original signature. If a representative of the association other than its president signs the application form, a letter from the board of directors authorizing that person to submit the application must be provided.
